North road ward councillors report – July 2021
North road ward councillors report - July 2021
We are arranging for more dropped kerbs to be brought to another area of our ward and pruned shrubbery to uncover a much-needed disabled persons handrail.
Work is taking place to deliver not only a Focus but a ward-wide survey to try and get a dog-secure area within North Park and have met with several officials from the Council all of whom think the idea is a good one as is the site we wish to use. Now we need the backing of dog-owners to help bring this to fruition.
We reported ward issues to council officers that were brought to our attention by residents, they included noisy/unruly neighbours, threatening behaviour by some people towards others and waste management. We also gave legal advice to a resident.
An audit of lampposts mixed with trees in the North Riverside estate was undertaken, there were 8 lampposts surrounded by branches on the estate and one light on constantly and 3 lampposts to keep an eye on as the branches are not too far away.
We called out one Saturday to devastation in a back lane and called the Civic Enforcement team out. They arranged for the large pieces of furniture and a shed that had been removed from someone's back yard and was damaged due being stamped on to be taken away. They also informed the police. The following day we were phoned by another resident in the same street about two vehicles that had turned up in the street and a fight had broken out with about 20 people involved and the Police were called. We followed up with the police and one of the landlords.
We are working with a few residents to tackle cars being parked in their street which are not legal to be on the road. The vehicles are being placed there by a local garage.
